LyxPro HAS-30 Review – Budget Phones with Impressive Sound

As brand names go, LyxPro is certainly not one of the biggest in the world of headphones. However, their pair of HAS-30 closed-back phones has made waves in the affordable market and has recently found its way onto our chart of the best sub-$100 studio headphones. First impressions are great – but how do they rate beyond this?

Design

Everyone has a personal taste, but we are big fans of the aesthetics of the LyxPro HAS-30s, which remain simplistic but sophisticated, with an all-black construction, red detailing and minimal branding. Ultimately there is nothing extraordinary, but very appealing and grown-up. The robust build quality matches the design – they feel like a more expensive pair, which can’t be said for some of the others at this sub-$100 price point. This pair features a sturdy stainless-steel headband covered with leather padding, along with two premium leather ear cups, which are well padded, soft and comfortable for prolonged use (these are fully replaceable). The headphones conveniently fold up into a compact little package, for ease of storing and transporting, while the cups swivel around 180-degrees, for simple single-ear use. For a budget pair, these rate very highly in design and build.

Features

In addition to the headphones themselves, LyxPro offers a good bundle of accessories. Of course, you will find in the box two detachable 3-meter cables – one straight and one coiled, both with 1/8” (3.5mm) jacks, and a screwable 1/4” jack adapter included. There is also a stylish black and red carrying case, as well as a separate carry pouch for the cables. Remember, this is included for well under $100, making it feel very good value. Then we come onto the specs, which emphasizes this value. The HAS-30s are loaded with 50mm drivers, with a very wide frequency range of 15Hz to 26KHz. Finally, there is an impedance of 32 ohms, so driving them with as little as a smartphone is easily achievable.

Performance

Onto performance and there are very few complaints for so few beans. This is a pair most people would be happy to have on for a long day in the studio. The cups fit nicely around the ears and, along with the closed-back design, sound bleed is not a problem.
