SKB 8-port Powered Pedalboard - Integrated Efficiency

For fans of practical and convenient pedalboards with an affordable price tag, the folks from SKB have presented their 8-pord powered board, a convenient item that will keep your pedals nicely tucked in and available at the player's disposal. While we typically consider ourselves as fans of metal construction when it comes to effect boards, the combination of plastics and rubber modified styrene the manufacture went with here is certainly on par with many metal models we've seen in the past. Body

The first thing that drew our attention here is that the shape of the board is much more square that the majority of other products available on the market. This is a major plus for users of larger effects and not just simple stomp-boxes as it allows you to store two boxes within one column, which is not something most boards can brag about. As previously noted, we are looking at a plastic construction combined with rubber modified styrene. This option secures a rubbery vibe, but also the ability to absorb significant amounts of physical damage during transport. The padding is strong and firmly grips onto the pedals you place on it. The item comes with a size of 23 x 16.5 x 5 inches and a weight of around 9 pounds. It can house up to 8 standard pedals, with separate jacks includes for each of them, but more on that in the hardware department.

Hardware

So as noted, the board includes its own electronic department and wiring, which is pretty much always a plus in our book. A separate port has been provided for each of the pedals, which can cause some cable commotion on one hand, but more importantly - it will keep the signal loud and clear. What we especially like about this item is that all the necessary power cables are included in the price tag. People often disregard this, but all the power supplies and cables are a necessary addition to many pedalboards on the market, and having them included is a major plus. Also included in the mix is a heavy-duty ballistic nylon gig bag with an exterior zipper pocket and an adjustable shoulder strap. And while we've seen stronger bags, this one is certainly not weak and does the job very well. Value/Conclusion

For the listed price, and seeing that additional hardware and a gig bag have been included in the mix, we have to say that the SKB 8 is easily one of the best guitar pedalboards under $100. The device is durable, highly practical and affordable. The official press release says that this is a board that "redefines affordable pedalboards," and we have to say that we agree, to an extent at least. Good stuff, thumbs up!
